This feature called SMS Connect is hidden and works like WhatsApp, which was launched in 2015. It was also, initially an exclusive for Pixel devices. The tech giant Google is doing more on Android devices and Chromebooks by launching a feature called ‘SMS connect’ on the Android 8.1 Oreo. This service is part of the developer preview for Google pixel and Google Nexus devices allows users to respond to text messages directly from their Chrome OS devices. So Android 8.1 Oreo has this hidden service…SMSConnectPrebuilt…though it doesn’t work alone, it has a setup screen for the SMS Connect Service. It confirms that the service is designed the provide you with the messages your device or smartphone receives directly to your Chromebooks. If a user finishes the setup process, you can read or respond to your messages. There has been rumours that Google will be merging Chrome OS and Android and the new platform called Andromeda. The OS however did not get an official picture, but a service like SMS connect….in a way fulfils this; that is bringing Android more and more closer to the Chrome OS and make it more useful to Android users.
